The Good Food Show

The Good Food Show Glasgow 2010.  Our first adventure into 'big boy' territory.  We were with a group of suppliers from Dumfries and Galloway under the Savour the Flavours banner.  It was interesting if not expensive for both exhibitors and visitors alike and the GFS staff were not as helpful as we would have liked as a fridge broke down causing us a huge loss of stock - with so little assistance from the organizers this was a nightmare and marred our experience of Glasgow!  However we learnt alot and still enjoyed being a part of Savour the Flavours...luckily the Birmingham Good Food Show was fantastic and really made up for such a negative experience in Glasgow!

Busines Owner Wanda Campbell wins Business Personality of the Year 2010! This award was voted for by the readers of Dumfries and Galloway Life Magazine.  According to the editor, Andrea Thompson, the nominations were overwhelming and resulted in wanda attending an amazing ceremony at Easterbrook Hall in November 2010 during which she was presented with a Glass engraved award sponsered by the UWS.

Other news....breaking news....other news....news flash...

  • FOG have had an amazing xmas and would like to thank all of their customers and suppliers for making it work.  The response to our Christmas Campaign was overwhelming and saw us being rushed off our feet!
  • Wanda Campbell has been asked to be part of the steering group for the South of Scotland and Borders Food Forum.  This is to take the region through to 2017 and to develop a working action plan to develop the National Food Forum strategy. Exciting stuff - the first meeting saw the steering group agree on an action plan which will really assit in stimulating food and drink sales and profile in the next few years.
  • Fog have been sucessful in securing a permanant place at St Georges Market in Belfast every Sunday.  This has been a long time in coming and we are still on waiting list for a Friday and Saturday.  This is a real coup as it allows us to promote our suppliers and sell their products to a whole new audience over the Irish Sea...watch this space for updates and photos!
  • January saw the first anniversary of the Wigtownshire Food forum and this was celebrated with a presentation at Stranraer college to other business' and foodies alike.  It was a great success with a great range of speakers.
  •  We are currently working with the UWS Business School students in Dumfries to come up with new and exciting products which will be exclusive to Flavours of Galloway.  This also enables the students to work on a real life business idea as part of their degree programme and helps them understand how SME business really works.  Subscribe to our newsletter to see how the students get on and what products they develop and which product will be chosen to be included in our Galloway Chieftian Hamper!
  • We have been successful in gaining funding for developing our own range of products.  We have listened to our customers and want to intriduce a range of complimentary products for Xmas 2011.  We will be working with QMU in Edinburgh to develop a real taste extravaganza.  The products that make the 'final cut' will then be produced in D&G and will be included within both our baskets and hampers and our pic 'n' mix section.
  • We are looking at opening our first regional catering arm in summer 2011.  This has taken months in preparation and combines all of our suppliers produce in unique tasty meal offerings which will be able to be bought online and delievered direct to your door. As well as a range of traditional favourites we will be offering meal offerings for those with special dietary requirement i.e Gluten free meals and snacks, meals for those wishing to count calories without comprimising on flavour and Diabetic meal portions.
